The Yale Hockey Academy is an elite skills-based academy, that specializes in high performance training and elite skill development of athletes during school hours. We operate out of Yale Secondary School as well as the Abbotsford Recreation Centre. Our program has 2 groups: "Blue" Group is for high level Junior players, Major Midget Players, and elite AAA players while our "White" group has rep players that include A and B as well as House players. We are open to all players of all abilities; however, we recommend at least 4 years of minor hockey experience prior to applying.

Students receive full credit for their on and off ice training:(P.E. 9,10, and 11 as well as Strength & Conditioning 9,10, and 11)

Yale Secondary School has continued to be one of the top academic public institutions in the Fraser Valley. Recent surveys identify Yale as the top academic public high school in the district and one of the best in the province. In most years, Yale students are awarded significantly more district and provincial scholarships than any other school in Abbotsford. Yale offers over 250 different courses and a wide variety of extra-curricular activities. The range of educational opportunities available at Yale has led to our fine reputation. We offer several Advanced Placement courses and support them with Honours courses throughout the grade levels. Yale also offers a wide-ranging and intensive program in visual art, theatre and music, which presents students with many opportunities to show their talents.

Our On-Ice instructors include Brad Bowen, Andy Nielsen, and Sheldon Todhunter. All of our instructors have had high experience either as player or coaches and are well known in the community for their expertise of elite skill development and Kineisology training.

The Yale Hockey Academy operates from September 1st to May 31st. We engage in approx. 85 on-ice sessions that are 1.25 hours in length.

The off-ice program focuses primarily on core training, and plyometrics; however, during the off-season, our athletes begin their off-season training program which consists more of weight training. All Yale Hockey Students are taken through extensive plyometric training, SAQ sessions (Speed, Agility, Quickness) as well as valuable classroom sessions that focus on sports nutrition, sport psychology, and sport injury management. Sheldon Todhunter (St Fitness Ltd.) has developed our training program. Sheldon is well known for his expertise in core training and his experience within the Twist training program. We also train out of the new ARC facility alongside registered trainers who are all certified under the BCRPA.

Cost for the program is $1800 for the year. This can be financed by pre-authorized payments or by Visa. We do offer a discounted price for those students who play in the BC Major Midget League. Furthermore, we offer a sibling discount for players who have brothers and sisters in either the Yale Hockey Academy or the Fraser Falcons Middle School Hockey program. (http://www.fmshockey.com)
